It is common knowledge that the roads in Pasco County need a lot of improvement.  Even our main roads often feature potholes and cracks.  Making matters worse, we have road projects that seem to go on for years.  The recent addition of turn lanes and median changes along US 19 is a prime example.  We need to insist that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) schedule projects so that they are completed in a timely basis.  County road contracts should include specific timetables for completion, with substantial penalties for road projects that are not completed on schedule.  Using the lowest bidder saves tax dollars only if the lowest bidder is qualified and capable of performing the job.
