I am so proud of the changes that we have made this year when it comes to mom’s running for office. We now are allowed to have children on the floor of the Senate thanks to amazing women like Tammy Duckworth, and we can now count childcare as a campaign expense thanks to countless advocates. I am a mom. People who know me and follow my campaign know this. Zoey goes with me to meetings and to events. If I can find a person to watch her, then I go on my own. She is a part of my life and is the future of this party. Involving children at an early age in the political process helps to create future voters and voters that are engaged. We need to start thinking outside the box when it comes to engaging voters. If we keep our meetings not accessible to parents, then we will not be able to get them involved in the process. I am fortunate that Zoey has made a lot of friends at these meetings and has been welcomed into the Democratic Party. As the political landscape changes it is the responsibility of the party to evolve with it. I am proud that we have had minimal issues with Zoey going with me to meetings. She is the future of this party and the most important person in my life.
As some of you know, I ran and worked at a small non-profit that helped people living with AIDS. Our agency closed it’s doors today. We worked hard in the area fighting for people to get the care and the help that they needed but the state of Florida felt that our program was unnecessary. So today I said goodbye to all of the hardworking case managers at our agency and wished them will in their future endeavors. It has been a difficult day for me, because I worry about the staff and the people that we served.
I always benefited from knowing the people we served. They were amazing individuals who had a lot of strength. I learned from all of them that it takes inner strength to continue on, even when it seems like life is hard. I have known that life is hard my whole life, but working with my people I learned how to keep going on when it seems like you want to shut down. This transition in my life has been difficult but it got me involved in the political world again. I always said that I would not run for office because of my loyalty to the people that I serve, and it is because of that loyalty that I am running. I believe that we need a politician that is loyal to the people they serve, not the developers or the people that fund their campaigns. We deserve someone that believes that people are important and that people matter. Someone that can set aside their own personal pain and issues and continue on for the betterment of the people. I know that it is my inner strength and conviction that has my opposition scared, and I have all of the people I have served over the years to thank for that. I appreciate all of the support that I have received and all of the support I will receive.
I am pending for an endorsement from Our Revolution. All I need is for people to complete the online poll. The more people I get the better. So if you believe that I can change the way that Pasco is governed the way that i believe it can be, then please complete the poll. Thank you!
I enjoy being invited to come out and speak to all of the local community groups! They have been very welcoming and I like hearing what issues that they are having. I cannot wait to work on those issues for the people of Pasco. We will be working a lot on building a strong base of supporters to bring this county back to the people here. If you are interested in volunteering please let me know. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you to all of the people that have been out there helping me and other campaigns. We cannot do this without you!
So I was looking at my petitions to qualify and I have 3,115 approved of the 3,360 needed to qualify. I currently have 318 still at the SOE that they have to verify for qualification. Thank you to all of the volunteers that have gone out and knocked on doors to get me on the ballot.
I will still be out there knocking on doors to get the vote out for other candidates and to get petitions signed so that they qualify as well. So thank you to all of the volunteers that have been out there helping to make this possible.
With the legislation that impacts our unions passing the Florida House and the Florida Senate, we need to help protect our workers rights more then ever. It has been shown in the past that collective bargaining works and matters. Yet we do not support the rights of workers like we should. We continue to to devalue what the Unions represent. So I am asking that we go out and support the Teamsters at their Rally! They are meeting on March 29th at 5 pm at the corner of Little Rd and Citizen’s Drive by the Government Center. They have been fighting to protect the rights of the workers of Pasco and fighting for the raise they were promised back in October. I hope to see you there.

So Votefest is happening again. It is a chance for candidates to get out there and to talk to the constituents. It is a chance to hear the candidates and for you to get to meet them. It is free but there are vendors there as well. So if you are in town on April 8th come out to Gil Dawg in Port Richey and listen to some music and some Politicians.
I of course will be there because I am not afraid to talk to the people and I know that people matter. So hopefully I will see you there!
For years we never contested the seats in Pasco. We often let them run unopposed. We continued to just let them walk in and never fought for what was right. We still do not have Democrats running for 2 seats in Pasco. We have a No Party Affiliation trying to get on the ballot for 38 against the incumbent but no Democrat. The longer we continue to let them go uncontested the longer they will continue to be the party in power. We have lost so many great programs in Florida and programs continue to be defunded. Why is it that we lose all of these programs that help so many people? It is because we have a elected officials that have no concept of what it is like to have to use these programs just to survive. We have a lot of problems in Pasco. Yet our legislators continue to ignore them because they do not impact them directly. As I watch programs sending out emails about how programs that help are currently on the chopping block at the State level, I get frustrated because like a lot of you I have reached out to my elected officials and often am ignored. They forget that they work for us. We should not have to beg them to do their jobs for the people of Pasco, yet we do. They feel secure and have no fear of ever being voted out because no one runs against them. This is a huge issue. So if we want to change things we need to step up and run. So if you are in 10 or 38 , step up and run against them. We want to change things in Pasco and the first part of that is getting people involved. Also isn’t it time to get them to spend all of that money that they have raised to run? So let’s keep them all busy focused on their own races so that they understand that the people are tired of being ignored.
I hear this a lot when I am out talking to people. Not all of the people can afford to donate to campaigns, but there are things that you can do. You can add yourself to the list of people that will phone bank or have a yard sign. You can go out and knock on doors for candidates. You can also like and share their posts. The more people that the posts reach the more people learn about the campaign. Not everyone can knock on doors or donate but there are always things that you can do. So if you see one of the events, share it and invite your friends. If you see a post share it and let people know. Like the posts and like my facebook page. The more people that we can reach the stronger this campaign becomes.
