New Port Richey has made great strides during the past several years to remake its downtown, attracting a wide variety of restaurants and offering entertainment options that range from free to somewhat pricey. There is literally something for every pocket book.
Port Richey is in the process of redeveloping its waterfront district, with new restaurants as well.
Pasco County should be encouraging these city efforts. The Pasco County Tourist Development Council supports a number of special events. They need to continue to do so and help spread the word outside the county.
In addition to funds for promoting special events, the Tourist Development Council also has a “Bricks and Mortar” fund. The TDC should consider spending some of these accumulating funds on projects designed to enhance tourism in both East and West Pasco.
